Overview

Tākaro Sports ("we", "our", or "us") is a sports app that provides live scores, daily trivia, standings, and game notifications. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Information We Collect

Account information — If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address, password (stored securely and never in plain text), and a username you provide.

Push notification token — If you enable notifications, we store a device token issued by Apple or Google that allows us to send you score alerts. This token is not linked to your identity unless you are logged in.

Favorite games — If you favorite a game for score alerts, we store the game ID and your notification token so we can send you updates.

Trivia answers — If you are logged in, we store whether you answered the daily trivia question correctly in order to maintain your leaderboard score.

We do not collect location data, contacts, payment information, or any other personal data.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain your account
• To send push notifications for games you have favorited
• To display your score on the trivia leaderboard
• To improve the app experience

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data:

• Supabase — stores your account information and app data securely
• Expo — delivers push notifications to your device
• ESPN — provides live sports scores and game data (no personal data shared)
• Anthropic — generates daily trivia questions (no personal data shared)

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed from our systems within 30 days. Push notification tokens are automatically removed when they become invalid (e.g. when you uninstall the app).

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can also delete your account directly within the app.

Children's Privacy

Tākaro Sports is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
