Privacy Policy

Tākaro Sports (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a sports app that provides live scores, a personal bet tracker, free friend contests (survivor, wins pools and pick'em), daily trivia, standings, and game notifications. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. Most of the app works without an account; the sections below say which data only exists if you sign in.

Account information — If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address, password (stored securely and never in plain text), and a username you provide.

Push notification token — If you enable notifications, we store a device token issued by Apple or Google that allows us to send you score alerts. This token is not linked to your identity unless you are logged in.

Favorite games — If you favorite a game for score alerts, we store the game ID and your notification token so we can send you updates.

Trivia answers — If you are logged in, we store whether you answered the daily trivia question correctly in order to maintain your leaderboard score.

Bets you track — The bet tracker is yours and works without an account; bets you enter are stored on your device. If you are signed in, they also sync to our database so they survive a reinstall and appear on your other devices. That record includes what you picked, the odds and line, the stake amount you entered, and how it settled. If you opt in to the public bets leaderboard, your username and your aggregate performance are shown to other users — the individual bets are not.

Bet-slip screenshots— If you import a bet by screenshot, that image is sent to Anthropic's API so its contents can be read into legs. It is used only to answer that one request and is not used to train models.

Contests — If you create or join a pool, we store your membership, the pool name and invite code, and your picks or roster. Other members of that pool can see your username, your picks once they lock, and your standing.

Feedback — If you send feedback from inside the app, we store your message together with your app version, platform, and your account ID if you are signed in.

Usage and diagnostics — We collect which screens are opened and which features are used, and automatic crash reports. See Third-Party Services below. If you are signed in, usage analytics are associated with your account ID.

Approximate location— our analytics provider derives a rough location from your IP address: country, state or region, a time zone, and approximate coordinates with a wide accuracy radius. This is not GPS. The app never asks for location permission and cannot read your device's actual position. Your IP address is stored alongside it.

We do notcollect your precise location, your contacts, or payment information. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, we show no advertising, and we do not sell your data.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

We use the following third-party services which may process your data:

• Supabase — stores your account information and app data securely
• Expo — delivers push notifications to your device
• ESPN — provides live sports scores and game data (no personal data shared)
• Anthropic — generates daily trivia questions, and reads bet-slip screenshots you choose to import. Screenshots are sent only to answer that request and are not used to train models.
• PostHog — product analytics: which screens are opened and which features are used, so we can tell what is worth building. Associated with your account ID when you are signed in.
• Sentry — automatic crash and error reports, so we can find and fix faults. We do not attach your identity to these reports.
• Resend — delivers in-app feedback you send to our inbox.
• Vercel — hosts the app's API and this website.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed from our systems within 30 days. Push notification tokens are automatically removed when they become invalid (e.g. when you uninstall the app).

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can also delete your account directly within the app.

Tākaro Sports is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
